What is my voting jurisdiction?

Your voting jurisdiction is simply where you live. This is your voting residence. To be eligible to vote within a particular “voting jurisdiction”, or area, you must be a resident of that jurisdiction.

Each state can create its own definition of “resident.” Generally, residency requires:

(1) presence within the jurisdiction and

(2) the intention to be a resident of the jurisdiction.

If you have further questions, please check with your local election official through the Election Official Directory; choose your State and Region to find the contact details.

If you are a student, please see our FAQ on student voting.
