How old do I have to be to register to vote?

Voter registration starts at 17 years old, so you can vote when you turn 18.  A few states allow 16 and 17-year-olds to "pre-register" so that they will start receiving information about voting as soon as they become eligible to vote.

Look up your state-specific regulations: in the State Voting Requirements to get to the State Voter Information Directory. Check in the Eligibility Requirements for the age when you can register to vote.
